Prevalence of New Delhi Metallo-Beta Lactamase Gene among Klebsiella Species Isolates: An Egyptian Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Emergence of carbapenemase producing microorganisms, specifically the New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM) and its different groups, in areas all over world, raised a global health concern. metallo-beta-lactamase destructs carbapenems, that are considered one last lines treatment for infections caused by resistant strains. Aim: Our study aimed detection NDM gene among carbapenem Klebsiella spp. isolated from variety clinical samples associated risk factors acquiring such infection. Methods: Two hundred carbapenem-resistant isolates were enrolled subjected to microbiological identification antibiotic sensitivity testing. Isolates gathered 560 diverse specimens collected various medical departments in Ain Shams University Hospital. exposed Imipenem-EDTA combined disk method (MBL) production, at point real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was done (blaNDM-1) MBL phenotypic organisms. Results: Using Imipenem-EDTA, 82 detected be producers. The PCR showed blaNDM-1 is carried 80 positive (97.6%). There no statistical significance regarding acquisition. Conclusion: Real time-PCR used more sensitive than methods. specific factor identified this study. Increasing the incidence prompt need evolve preventive measures reduce their spread.

High Prevalence of CTXM-15 Type Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase Among Clinical Isolates of Klebsiella Pneumoniae
Background: Production of β–lactamases by enterobacteriacea, especially Klebsiella pneumoniae, is one of the emerging health problems in the world. The purpose of this study was to assess the frequency of blaCTX-M15 gene in K. pneumoniae isolates and determine the molecular diversity of CTXM producing isolates. Methods: In...
متن کاملNew Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-1-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates in hospitalized patients in Kashan, Iran
Background and Objectives New Delhi metallo-ß-lactamase (NDM) is a newly emerging metallo-ß-lactamases, which can destroy all β-lactams including carbapenems. Therefore, this study aimed at evaluating New Delhi metallo-ß-lactamase-1-production in clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae in Kashan, Iran. Materials and Methods In a cross-sectional study, 181 K. pneumoniae isolates were collec...
متن کاملHospital Outbreak of Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae Producing New Delhi Metallo-Beta-Lactamase — Denver, Colorado, 2012
On August 16, 2012, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment was notified of two patients at an acute-care hospital in Denver with carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), specifically Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP), isolated from respiratory specimens during July-August. Both isolates produced New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase (NDM). A review of microbiology records identifi...
متن کاملNew Delhi Metallo-Beta-Lactamase (NDM-1)-Producing Klebsiella Pneumoniae Isolated from a Burned Patient
BACKGROUND Infections affecting burn patients are frequently caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacteriaceae species. Infections with these pathogens have become increasingly difficult to treat due to evolving antibiotic resistance mechanisms, including the production of carbapenemases. CASE REPORT The present case report describes the evolution of a burn patient...
